We perform all of our treatments on the WaveLight® EX500 Laser, the fastest refractive surgery platform available in the U.S.. Built on trusted WaveLight excimer technology, the WaveLight® EX500 Excimer Laser is the next leap forward in fast, accurate refractive laser treatments.
Wavefront Optimization
The WaveLight® EX500 Excimer Laser utilizes wavefront optimized technology to capture and automatically compensate for the unique curvature of your eyes, allowing your doctor to customize your laser vision correction treatment and preserve the highest quality of vision.
With earlier laser systems, the “optical zone”, or area of correction, was centered on the front of the cornea; the result was a flattened circular area that ended with an abrupt edge, causing unwanted side effects like poor night vision, glare, and halos.
The illustration below demonstrates the use of additional pulses to the cornea periphery which preserves the aspherical shape of the cornea. This compensation, combined with the incredible small 1mm size of the laser beam, produces a smooth, effective optical zone that results in higher quality vision.
PerfectPulse™ Technology and Smart Energy Control
The Allegretto laser is the fastest and most precise laser system with the ability to treat the widest range of nearsightedness, farsightedness, and astigmatism. The PerfectPulse Technology™ safely and accurately controls every single laser pulse from start to finish. It is applied to help ensure safe and precise work at high speed.
Smart Energy Control automatically measures and balances the energy level to ensure that each laser pulse delivers the same accurate result. After the beam has been created, it passes through three check points, where the energy level is checked and adjusted if necessary, ensuring that the beam is perfectly attuned to its destination.
Eye Tracking Technology
High-speed eye tracking is used to follow the eye’s fastest movements. Every 4-6 milliseconds, the eye’s location is measured and the internal mirrors of the WaveLight are automatically aligned. Just before each pulse is released, a final check is made to confirm the position of the eye. This happens 200 times every second, once for every laser pulse.
As a result of these unique technologies, the WaveLight® EX500 Excimer Laser is completely controlled, achieving the most accurate level of correction possible.
Oculus Pentacam
The Oculus Pentacam is an essential tool for diagnosis and management of corneal, cataract, and refractive surgery.
The innovative technology of the Pentacam has enabled physicians to analyze the front surfaces of the eye with an accuracy that was previously not available, thus permitting them to diagnose eye conditions and diseases with greater confidence.
The pentacam captures a high resolution image of the anterior eye segment and provides information from the anterior corneal surface to the posterior crystalline capsule. The images generated are three-dimensional rotating models used for corneal topographic and chamber analysis. They are movable presentations that are highly reliable and precise.

What is 20/20 Vision?
Generally speaking, if your visual acuity is determined to be 20/20, you see at 20 feet what a person with normal vision sees at 20 feet. Here I am one week post LASIK eye surgery and still in awe of the whole process. Every night I still feel like I need to remove my contacts because I can't remember ever being able to lay in my bed and watch TV or look around the room without them (or my glasses). Last Thursday on 11/12 I had my LASIK surgery! I’ve been wearing glasses since I was 7 years old. I dabbled with contacts but because of my severe astigmatism they were never comfortable and were always short lasting. I’ve always wanted LASIK surgery but was to nervous to even make the consult appointment. I have pretty severe anxiety issues. Well, I finally called and made my consult appointment! From the minute I walked through the doors of the West Springfield LASIK center I felt welcomed and comfortable. The girls at the front desk were all cheerful and helpful! The day of my scheduled surgery (which was less than a week after my consult!) I was beyond nervous! The coordinator gave me something to settle my nerves and as always was the sweetest, most patient person!! (Shout out to him, sorry I’m bad with names!) next came my surgery. Dr. Warren lived up to his great reputation and was thorough and gentle. He talked me through the short surgery and continuously asked if I was still doing ok. As for the actual surgery, I’m sure many are reading this in hopes of getting insight. I did the same thing before making my jump. The surgery was short and painless. There is one portion that has some pressure. But no pain at all! Do NOT listen to horror stories you may read somewhere on the internet! Go to see Dr. Warren. If you are anything like me and have anxiety and are a perfectionist. Stop your research here! This is your place! Dr. Warren and his team is your LASIK team! If curious about post-op: the worst of it is the dry eye (artificial tears are your best friend! Get the big box!!) a bit of crusty eye lashes from all of the drops you use for the first week. Warm wash cloth twice a day helps a ton! The next day when I say in the chair for my post-op follow up I was told I had 20/20 in both eyes!!! I literally broke down crying! I knew I was seeing well, but I was not expecting this so soon! The day I was told I have 20/20 will be a day I remember for the rest of my life! In conclusion, don’t wait. Book your consult! It's been 2&1/2 years since I had PRK (a form of LASIK) done to my eyes. Everyone was extremely thorough in making sure that I was a good fit for surgery by performing different tests on me. Very kind people. I did the research prior to and found that this was the most affordable place around. They are experienced. The procedure went without a hitch and was painless. Putting in eye drops was the only difficulty for me afterwards, because I've never used them. But they gave me practice drops well we before the surgery so I was well prepared after surgery. Your eyes will need some time to heal and recover after surgery. With the guidance of the people at West Springfield Eye and LASIK, they made it easy. For anyone considering improving their eyesight, I highly recommend you go there! Get checked with an open mind to see if you can get it done. I always wanted eye corrective surgery since I was a child. My horrible eyesight was a hindrance to my self confidence, ability in sports, and school. It interfered more recently with my work, doing landscaping or repairing motors. 2&1/2 years past and after the surgery was done, my eyesight has had no problems in the light, dark, near or far! I couldn't be more pleased with this life changing procedure! After the PRK procedure, I went back to college after a 10-year hiatus, and I have since been more confident in my abilities and am on my way to getting my 3rd and 4th associates degrees and going for my bachelor's in fall 2020.
