Just the actual data to help you make an informed decision.

The first step in ensuring you’ll have an excellent outcome is to determine if you are a good candidate. At the Longwood Eye & LASIK Center, our doctors and vision correction counselors will assess your specific visual needs and recommend the best options for you.
Our Lasik Technology
WaveLight® EX500 Excimer Laser System
We perform all of our treatments on the WaveLight® EX500 Laser, the fastest refractive surgery platform available in the U.S.. The only excimer laser to operate at 500Hz, with an average treatment time of 1.4 seconds per diopter*. Built on trusted WaveLight excimer technology, the WaveLight® EX500 Excimer Laser is the next leap forward in fast, accurate refractive laser treatments.
Wavefront Optimization
The WaveLight® EX500 Excimer Laser utilizes wavefront optimized technology to capture and automatically compensate for the unique curvature of your eyes, allowing your doctor to customize your laser vision correction treatment and preserve the highest quality of vision.
With earlier laser systems, the “optical zone”, or area of correction, was centered on the front of the cornea; the result was a flattened circular area that ended with an abrupt edge, causing unwanted side effects like poor night vision, glare, and halos.
The illustration below demonstrates the use of additional pulses to the cornea periphery which preserves the aspherical shape of the cornea. This compensation, combined with the incredible small 1mm size of the laser beam, produces a smooth, effective optical zone that results in higher quality vision.
PerfectPulse™ Technology and Smart Energy Control
The Allegretto laser is the fastest and most precise laser system with the ability to treat the widest range of nearsightedness, farsightedness, and astigmatism. The PerfectPulse Technology™ safely and accurately controls every single laser pulse from start to finish. It is applied to help ensure safe and precise work at high speed.
Smart Energy Control automatically measures and balances the energy level to ensure that each laser pulse delivers the same accurate result. After the beam has been created, it passes through three check points, where the energy level is checked and adjusted if necessary, ensuring that the beam is perfectly attuned to its destination.
Eye Tracking Technology
High-speed eye tracking is used to follow the eye’s fastest movements. Every 4-6 milliseconds, the eye’s location is measured and the internal mirrors of the WaveLight are automatically aligned. Just before each pulse is released, a final check is made to confirm the position of the eye. This happens 200 times every second, once for every laser pulse.
As a result of these unique technologies, the WaveLight® EX500 Excimer Laser is completely controlled, achieving the most accurate level of correction possible.
Oculus Pentacam
The Oculus Pentacam is an essential tool for diagnosis and management of corneal, cataract, and refractive surgery.
The innovative technology of the Pentacam has enabled physicians to analyze the front surfaces of the eye with an accuracy that was previously not available, thus permitting them to diagnose eye conditions and diseases with greater confidence.
The pentacam captures a high resolution image of the anterior eye segment and provides information from the anterior corneal surface to the posterior crystalline capsule. The images generated are three-dimensional rotating models used for corneal topographic and chamber analysis. They are movable presentations that are highly reliable and precise.
Key advantages of the rotating image process are:
- Precise measurements of the central cornea
- The correction of the eye’s movement
- The easy fixation for the patient
- Extremely short examination time
Best Diagnostic Technology for LASIK Treatment
We use only the most advanced diagnostic equipment to determine your candidacy with the utmost confidence. During your free 60-minute consultation, we’ll perform a thorough examination including:
- auto-refraction
- pupillometry
- corneal topography
- pachymetry
These tell us about, not only your prescription but the size of your pupils, the shape, health and thickness of your cornea, and the level of aberrations present in your visual system. All are critical in determining if LASIK is right for you.

What is 20/20 Vision?
Generally speaking, if your visual acuity is determined to be 20/20, you see at 20 feet what a person with normal vision sees at 20 feet. Comparatively, if you have 20/40 vision, you see at 20 feet what a person with normal vision could see from 40 feet. And, if you’re one of the lucky ones who has 20/15 vision, you can see at 20 feet what others would have to move up to 15 feet to see.
Will I See 20/20 After LASIK?
After LASIK, most patients see as well, if not better, than they did with their glasses or contacts. As a matter of fact, one thing that makes our office special, is that we’ll provide you with our actual results with other patients as your same prescription – in writing. Whatever your prescription, we’ll provide you with specific information about your likelihood of achieving 20/20 vision. No guessing. No generalities. Just the actual data to help you make an informed decision.

LASIK Eye Surgery Results
Results matter most. So be sure to research what other patients are saying about their own experience with your surgeon. Specifically, look for reviews about how they were treated, before, during and after their LASIK procedure.
Also, pay attention to their reviews about their vision after LASIK. How well do they see? Are they happy with their vision? Your LASIK experience should be both enjoyable and effective. Taking time to identify top surgeons with outstanding patient care will help you achieve both.

Testimonials
The environment is relaxing and the doctors work quick and precisely. I felt genuinely good working with their team.July 02, 2022
I have been Dr. John Warren’s patient for almost 2 years. I have always been extremely anxious about doctors and medical appointments. Dr. Warren is the first doctor that I can honestly say I like and trust 100%. He not only saved my vision, but recognized that the problem with my eyes was the sign of a more systemic problem that also needed treatment.July 01, 2022
I had LASIK done in April of 2022 and wanted to wait a while before I gave a review. It's safe to say now that it was the best decision I've made and I'm extremely happy I went with Longwood Eye & LASIK. They made the entire process incredibly seamless and the procedure itself was quick, easy, and painless. I was in and out of the office the day of my procedure in a little over an hour, and I was only in the procedure room for about 10-15 minutes. I was able to drive myself to my follow-up appointment the very next morning. I experienced a bit of "haloing" after my procedure for a few months, especially while driving at night and around lights indoors, but that subsided (like the doctors said it would) after about 6 months or so. My vision before LASIK was about 20/800 and now I'm at 20/15 which is even better than it was with contacts. I would highly recommend Longwood Eye & LASIK if you are considering LASIK. I wish I had done this years ago but I'm very glad I finally did.June 24, 2024
