What Eye Pain Could Mean For Your Vision

Eye Care Services Greenfield, MA Experiencing headaches or even eye aches when you are extremely tired is one thing, but experiencing frequent or chronic eye pain could be indicative of an entirely different or underlying condition. Longwood Eye & LASIK Center can determine whats cause your pain based on the severity of it and how long it lasts. Let’s take a closer look at three common causes of eye pain.

Eye Strain

If you are like the majority of the country, you sit and stare at a computer screen all day long. And although working in front of a computer has many benefits, it can also cause eye strain which may result in things like headaches and even pain in some instances. To help you get rid of your  strain, try using the 20-20-20 rule which involves staring 20 feet away every 20 minutes for 20 seconds at a time.

Conjunctivitis

If you are experiencing redness, itching, and/or swelling, then you could be suffering from a condition. These conditions could be conjunctivitis, or pink eye. Conjunctivitis comes on as a sort of aching pain. As symptoms worsen, patients experience things such as redness and inflammation.

Allergies

Allergies can cause a variety of vision problems including excessive tearing, swelling, blurred vision, and, yes, pain. If you suffer from seasonal allergies, then your pain may be caused by your allergies.

These are just three possible explanations, but there are other causes as well. If you are suffering from any sort of eye pain, the best thing to do is to schedule an examination at our West Springfield office and call (800) 676-5050.
